Remember the Peter Paul and Mary song ... "All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go ..." I have packed my bike in the "cardboard cheese wedge" Air Caddy and am shipping it to my hotel in San Diego by FedEx tomorrow; these two small bags contain my clothes for two months on the road - and, believe it or not, there is still room in them! "Leaving on a jet plane ..." On March 5, but I do know that I will be back again on May 1. Talk to you soon on this blog!

One month to go!
I am so ready for this trip. Whether my five months of training is enough or not, it's done. The "to buy" list is down to zero, and the "to do" list is down to six items. My bike is decked out in new wheels, "Gatorskin" tires (how appropriate for where I live), and (ta da!) a saddle that is both narrow and comfortable! (Finding the right saddle only took 3 months and a half dozen tries.) My old cold weather biking clothes from Connecticut appear to be fine for crossing parts of the Rocky Mountains in March. The last challenge is packing all this stuff into two bags that are light enough to get past the "weigh-in" at the start of the trip, and that I can carry easily from the luggage van into my hotel. My bike will be packed and shipped on February 21 to a bike shop in San Diego for re-assembly; I fly out on March 5. Talk to you then!
