Trunk: an amazing amount of stuff! Two tire tubes (always replace cut, punctured or defective valve tubes, no patching of tubes), tire levers, allyn wrenches for making saddle and handlebar adjustments, extra spokes, plastic ties, a patch for a cut tire (enough to get to the next bike shop for a new tire), a lock, a medical kit, a rag, nitrile gloves (don't want to ruin a perfectly good manicure changing a tire), a camera, glasses, and my wallet. To those basics, I may add a jacket or other outerwear and a sandwich.
Handlebar bag: tissues, snacks, iPhone, electrolyte replacement tablets or powder (to go in my water bottle), a whistle to scare dogs (outrunning them has worked better), a scrubber sponge to run over my tires a few times a day (it grabs small bits that have not yet penetrated the tire), a pen, and a sunscreen stick. The day's cue sheet goes on top of the bag where I can see it.
One of the things I do in anticipation of a layover day is order stuff I need from Amazon. Today's package was a muscle roller. Yes, my leg muscles finally got sore. The roller stick works out the tightness. Happy girl!
Went to the Pioneer Museum in town, Recounting the history of the Germans who settled in Fredericksburg and a number of surrounding towns in Texas.
I'm impressed with your organized packing! I've been to Fredericksburg, it is where my ex in-laws lived. Nice little town, I was always amazed about how wide the streets were. It is very near the town where Willie, Waylon and The Boys used to hang out and sing - Luckenbach, TX.
ReplyDeleteThat's the best barbed wire collection I have ever seen, very nice.
Not much happening here, some people have already left and others are getting ready to go after Easter, me included. Mike will stay a little longer.
Keep on pedaling and be safe.
Meg
You are doing a great Blog. Great trip as well. Thanks for posting everything you carry. Great idea ordering stuff along the way.
