A fun 42 miles from Bastrop to La Grange, Texas. Starting out cloudy then turning wonderfully sunny and warm. We had 12 miles of riding through state parks, no traffic and roller coaster roads; lots of fun despite the 10-18% grades.
These three guys are also riding the Southern Tier route and we keep running into them. They are self-contained (i.e., carry all their gear and camping stuff on their bikes) and found the roller coaster roads not quite as interesting as we did!
Just more beautiful scenery and flowers. The landscape reminds me very much of the northeastern United States.
Had lunch in the cute town of La Grange. It is built around a town square with a courthouse in the center.
Since today was a short ride, we also found time to go shopping. These flowered leggings got a lot of hoots and hollers from my fellow riders at dinner. C'mon now, they are quite consistent with the flowery landscape of the last few days! (I am sure I can find a better top and sandals for them when I get back home.)
There's always one fashionista among the group! Ride on! -Mary
