Popeyes, mcDonalds, and the like nearby.... Kind of limits the good pictures.
So here is a little information about the women on the tour.
Age range: 47 to 70. Average of 60 as near as I can figure.
Shapes and sizes: Tall, short, fat, skinny, i.e., all kinds
Color: more tanned on the right sides ( sun tends to be from southeast)
Geography: from four countries. England, Scotland, Canada, and 14 states in the US.
Riding experience: ranges from ever since childhood to just the past 4 months. Most have done other cycling tours. Several used to be marathoners. Nearly all of us ride every day on this trip.
Weight loss so far: quite a bit for one very disciplined person, the rest of us? No comment.
Flat tire record: 6. I have had 4. No intention of trying to be first in this category.
Occupations: a half dozen are working full or part time, the rest of us are retired or not currently employed outside the home. Current or past occupations include air traffic controller, photographer, doctor, accountant, presentation skills trainer, Navy officer, dental hygienist, hiking tour company owner, management consultant, teacher, orthodontist, grain inspector, lawyer. Many are mothers and grandmothers. We also have 3 pilots - for recreation only, but still worth mentioning since I am one of them.
The bikes: Nearly all are road bikes (skinny tires, drop handlebars). Most have carbon fiber frames and forks (e.g., Trek, Specialized); a few have titanium frames (e.g., Seven, Merlin); a couple have steel frames (e.g., Surly, Salsa); and a couple have aluminum frames (e.g., Cannondale).
Most valued personal characteristics: sense of humor, being supportive of each other.
See you tomorrow. I understand that more flowers and cows are in store.
Loved your statistics!
ReplyDeleteAlso just wanted to let you know that there are many of us who are reading everything you and your fellow bloggers (blogettes ? : - ) are writing. It gives us a fuller picture of what all of you are going through, and sometimes pictures of our friends or loved ones on the trip. So, even if, individually, you each know only a few people following your blog, I'm guessing the number is much, much larger. Perhaps 500-1000? Please know, and let your fellow bloggers know, that we appreciate the time y'all (when in Texas...) take to chronicle your journey! We wish for you dry skies, following winds, low rollers, no flats, and above all, safe riding for the rest of the trip.
Sounds like quite a diversified group, what fun! I love all your pictures but, must say the Walmart and McDonald's shot isn't the prettiest ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe're off to San Francisco tomorrow, will wave as we fly over. Be safe and have fun.
Happy pedaling.
