It is the best-stocked bike shop I have ever seen. Tons of high end merchandise and bikes. Even better, a coffee shop. We hung out there for over an hour, hoping the rain would stop.
On our way to the bike shop, the drizzle turned into a downpour. Four of us were huddling under a tree in a residential area when a fellow drove by and offered us shelter in his garage around the corner! Pat is an avid cyclist as well, with his garage taken up with four bicycles and assorted maintenance equipment.
We, again, are grateful for the kindness of strangers.
We got chased by a dog, and found out that neither whistles nor a very loud "go home" deterred the animal. A car coming in the opposite direction got between us and the dog and he went on to some other pursuit.
To make the day even more exciting, we then had a flat tire. All four of us had a hand in helping to find the cause and change out the tube. Fortunately the rain stopped for that exercise - around 3pm.
The Texas Hill country and east of Austin is beautiful, with many different flowers blooming in the fields. These are bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush and another flower I can't name.
Despite the weather and these events, we all enjoyed the ride and each other's company.
We finished the day at a very nice hotel, with appetizers, dinner and dessert prepared by our chef. Ahhhh.
EEEEEW rain! But, look at all the beautiful flowers that it helped ;-) Mike played a few holes with Dan yesterday afternoon and then he stopped by to have a beer. Glad to see him back safe and sound.
